Below are some answers to frequently asked questions about the services that BPI provides. If you have a question, and you don't find the answer here, please contact us or call us at (802) 442-8136 and we will be happy to get in touch with you to answer any questions you might have.
"How many days a week can I attend BPI?"
The answer is easy, as many as you want! At our new home, the Dr. Richard A. Sleeman Center on Harwood Hill, we have plenty of space, and beautifully furnished rooms ready for visiting, activities, or just relaxing. Our center is open Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you’re new to our program, our Membership Coordinator will discuss with you what days you’d like to attend. If you’re an established friend of BPI and would like to come more often, all you have to do is let any staff member know and we’ll set it up.
“Is transportation provided?”
Individuals who attend BPI have various modes of transportation: Some people have a private ride, while others utilize BPI’s transportation. BPI has vans and provides transportation in Bennington and its surrounding towns. For participants who live in the Northshire, transportation is either private, or through the Green Mountain Community Network. Our Transportation Coordinator will be happy to discuss and arrange your ride.
“I know someone I think would benefit from BPI, how do I get them enrolled?”
Making a referral to BPI is easy, just pick up the phone and call us at (802) 442-8136. Our Membership Coordinator will gather the pertinent information and then contact your referral or their caregiver directly. Visit our Contact Page to make a referral or call us at 442-8136. If you’re referring from an agency you can either call in the information or complete and fax a Referral form to BPI at 447-8291. If your office is in need of a referral form, just give us a call and we’ll fax one to you. Please feel free to duplicate this form. Our Membership Coordinator keeps in touch with all referrals for 7 months in hopes of scheduling a visit to BPI. Keep those referrals coming!
“Will my Insurance pay for BPI?”
Yes, there are insurances that pay for Bennington Project Independence. Vermont Medicaid- both Community Medicaid and Long Term Care Medicaid may pay for your participation at BPI. For Community Medicaid, the staff at BPI completes the application paperwork. For funding through the Vermont Long Term Medicaid program, BPI staff can discuss eligibility criteria and make a referral to the appropriate agency to assist with the application process. Also, if you have Long Term Care Insurance and have purchased an Adult Day rider your attendance, or a portion of it, may be covered. BPI is also a Veteran's Administration Adult Day Health provider.
If you are wondering whether your insurance would pay for Bennington Project Independence Adult Day Service please call our Membership Coordinator at (802) 442-8136. She would be happy to discuss all funding options for BPI.
“I’m unsure if I want to join BPI. Can I visit first?”
Absolutely! BPI offers a complimentary visit to individuals who are interested in learning more about us. This free half or full day includes everything that is available to participants enrolled in the program- activities, special events, lunch, medical care, personal care assistance, and social work services to name a few. It’s a wonderful way to see if BPI is your “cup of tea”. If you’d rather come for just a tour (and maybe a delicious lunch) that can be arranged instead. Please call our Membership Coordinator, Gina Anzivino, at (802) 442-8136 with any questions or to arrange a complimentary visit (download a coupon for your free visit here).
