Families Together

BPI offers a unique program entitled "Families Together." So often individuals caring for an elderly or disabled loved one find that family and friends drift away. Not knowing how to help or wanting to bother the caregiver, they withdraw leaving the caregiver without critical emotional and social support.

Families Together is a group of caregivers, both past and present, who gather each month to share their experiences, knowledge and strength.

Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm in our upstairs community room at 614 Harwood Hill in Bennington. Limited transportation and respite coverage at BPI are also available.

Another unique aspect of BPI’s “Families Together” is that we also have “Caring Friends” or Family Mentors. These are people who have first hand experience dealing with some of the issues that a caregiver might face. Knowing that there is a truly caring friend a caregiver can call to talk with, problem solve or just share with can bring a huge sense of relief.

“Families Together” and “Caring Friends” are just some of the special ways BPI is helping families share the care. For more information on how you or someone you know can join the fun and friendship, contact our Social Worker, Beth Newman, at (802) 442-8136.
